(thank you for the term Brooding Bird)
for the music of Rashaan Roland Kirk.

To me the man is by far the hippest guy ever to walk this planet!

Visit the Rashaan website for more praise,
or read the wikipage.

All I will add to the matter is something amazing
about track 7, the Saxophone Concerto:
his circular breathing ability enabled him to record
"Concerto For Saxophone"
in one continuous take of about 20 minutes,
playing with no discernible "break" for inhaling...

Hi
Thanks for the comments on C-60 about Talk Talk.
Had to check out your blog of course and love the concept. I've been working many years as a Radio DJ and when I switched to the Filmindustry a longing for presenting music was so big that I had to start C-60, so I do understand the things you say about working in a record-store.
Your blog is totally originalo and very nice indeed. See you around

This Kirk stuff if fantastic, however, I'd like to let you know that the proper spelling and pronunciation of the first part of the name Kirk chose for himself is actually RAH-SAAN, spelled R-A-H-S-A-A-N.
He was actually born Ronald Theodore Kirk, then decided to transpose the letters of his first name after a dream he experienced. He then added the RAHSAAN later on.
Just a little friendly info from DA' Brotha'....keep on keepin' on!!
Hi Brotha J.
finally someone noticed and/or mentiones something of it...
fact is I had my photoshopped pics and words-job ready, when I realized I switched those H & S...
Not wanting to do it all over again, I consequently misspelled it in BOTH posts! (that artwork I did at the same time...as you can see) Thanks for your attentive & eager readings!
regards, E-mile
Totally insane...that's the only way I can describe Rahsaan....but I can't get enough of listening to him. A masters master of instruments and lyrical recitations.
Any chance of refreshing the full set of Roland Kirk links please?
They've all expired but a couple of the megaupload ones, and I'd dearly love to enjoy the full set... I'm sure I can't be the only one. :-)
@ richard, please DO use that Megaupload, I've checked it and it works (still) fine on post 52...
peace, E-mile
