422: Watermelon Man

Hi.

A long time ago somebody suggested to pick the Watermelon Man
song by Herbie Hancock for a E-mile Says post.
Today it's time for a 4 hour 25 minutes answer to that request.
This song is covered so many times, it might even top Summertime!
Would it?
Well, whatever, here's a small selection of cover versions
I gathered for your listening pleasure/terror...
It's a rather diverse bunch, with Hammond, WahWah,
Horns, Strings, Sweet Vocals and what not.
It also bounces through time, as this is a CLASSIC tune [:-)
Hope you enjoy it & have some fun!

Nice mix ... but where's Manfred Mann? Their studio version featured some quite atypical (for the time & place) fluttery sax in the mix ... very eye-opening for any young Britrock fan. Here's a slightly out-of-sync live performance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6GtgoT74Hw

thanks for the addition JFK (!), but I never had the intention to be "complete" in any way [:-) Just a mere selection, with LOADS of omissions, I realize that...
