185: Back In The Day, part 3

Hi.

Alas, no new wah't going on today,

instead I'll take y'all unto a funky frenzy into the world of hiphop...

- again ??? -

No worries, it's all better than and more important

very much more IN the Game and/or worth your Fifty Cent [:-)

-

This mix relates to the "better" side of rap,

the one you can nod yer heads to, or even dance to, if you're one of those

B-Boys who are able to seemingly defy gravity with their moves...

For those who can relate to the above,

feel free to do your thing on track nr. 6 please :-)

-

I wanted to do -just- a small 10 track comp today, but I had

to include a kinda O'L'D' time fav from 1990 when I heard it back,

dropping needles from track to track...

irresistible "old skool-shit" you probably know (or not?)

-

Made me realize I HAVE to do an all-time-fav-top-10 of

Ultramagnetic and/or Kool Keith stuff some time soon!

-

Anywhos, rest is from the mid towards end 90's stuff,

all without a doubt classix by now, so E.N.J.O.Y.

and remember the basic instructions before leaving earth...

1 hour and 40 minutes listening trip...

& heros provided for the last year I was so "out here" ,

they are responsible for keeping my addiction sane

and I'm sure they know who they are!

combined with a bit more down-to eart feel,

179: Train...

Hi.

Today I elaborate on a suggestion done by Matt(hias),

another reader, musical maniac, collector and listmaker from

Germany, who visits here so every now and then...

He's also going to do a far-out-there guest post here,

so be prepared for some twisted sounds on his behalve :-)

Matt proposed the idea (and a pic he'd taken) for your odd

all-TRAIN-compilation of some sort...

well, I'm always open for that kind of uplifting input,

so I gave it some thoughts.

-

I realised lots of songs will fit into this "label", so today I present

a carefully selected first part of those songs that need a rail or two...

Pic courtesy of Matt, songs on my behalve,

let's have it for the first 10 train-songs & enjoy!

177: another dirty dozen...done twice :-)

Hi.

Today the cover-squad hits town again!

A dozen songs done twice, spawning from all regions of

within the musical spectrum so to say...

-

I'm often pleasantly surprized how well it works if you

make a mix purely based on it's alphabetical order;

but, this only does -without saying- it's magic when

you've got the RIGHT ingredients :-)

-

Be asured, this is one tasty mix I brewed together,

with the help from all my hardworking sous-chefs

whom I'm paying way too less attention, kudos or even respect,

I know...

-

Anywho, a few favourites de moi get some more airplay today,

even caught on to the Sly-thing from the other day :-)

-

hope you all like em again,

and am wondering how many of you people survived

the mentally-maniac-madman-mix from post nr. 173?

(no comments, reassuring words, invitations for self-help groups, public health

warnings, not even the occasional lawsuit or whatsoever?!?)

Hi.

Today a very fresh cover-up action

on a whole lotta Sly & the Family Stone songs...

174: to cat or not to cat...

Hi.

Today 2 pictures of our oldest one, Pinch,

running in & around the house for 19 years !

He's a great old fellow, missing some teeth, needs special food,

isn't too comfortable on the cat-bin anymore

(hey fellas, he'a getting o-l-d)

but he's still one hell of a cat!

-

These cat-related songs are however not for him,

but they are for your listening pleasure...

-

Sure they have a "cattish" theme, but that's not all,

it's a diverse musical trip too :-)

Enjoy!

173: e-mile says cut'n'paste do the matter sometimes too....

Hi.
Be warned, today I picked up my nerves and bring

you a little something I "made" myself, using Audition, my

vast collection of CD's and LP's and my tormented (musical)

imagination, all dating from a little less than 3 years ago...

-

I was a, how shall I call this,

let's say, at an emotional all-time low, due to personal

problems, dealing with a lot of shit going on in my life.

-

At the time I felt the only thing I had left for me was MUSIC, my

precious music and my (just as precious) big ears that told my

brain (what was left of it anyways) to DO something with that...

-

Let's put is this way: if I hadn't put in the hours doing

what you all can hear here (if you want to, that is) I'd gone

completely Rambo, Nuts or even WW4 for that matter...

-

So, yeah it's all therapeutical I guess :-)

But not to worry THAT much, I found comfort in doing what I did,

it dragged me, myself & I through a really bad time,

and listening it back for the whole 46:15 minutes,

it wasn't too big of a joke... (to me!)

-

For all of you who don't know me (besides the blog-thing)

it's a nice way to get aquainted a little bit better,

-if that's the word for it-

and I'm sure the mix has it's moments (at sometimes!)

-

good food ( the famous garlic soup!!!) in short: a well spent 2 weeks!
