78: the Ghetto part 4

Hi.
Part 4 today of the ghetto chronicles.
Some funky, some reggae and some...well, some "other" I guess.
A version sung in French of the tune everyone knows from Elvis,
and the intro from Macy Gray sounds (to me) just like it's taken from
"It's a man's world" from James Brown.
The Carlos Garnett song I found (amongst many other great LP's)
on the amazing Ile Oxumare spot (see the links!)
So here it is, hope you like it.

75: Parrrty!

Hi.
After adding another year (with it's ups & downs) to my life
I feel like I can "get away" with just anything :-)
I mean, today I'm not feeling the need for a theme or stuff like that,
I'm just celebrating great tunes and feel-good music.
So, I suggest you DL this selection, grab a beer, or light a spliff,
(do both?)
put these 10 songs on real LOUD and party for nearly an hour!
(or you might vacuum the whole place while you're at it, I don't care)
Point is, please enjoy this and hopefully I'm off for another great year...

74: as a kid...

Hi.
As my birthday is coming up very shortly,
I was taking a trip to memory lane and
to the music I listened to when I was (so much) younger...
As you can see I've always had a "thing" for epic songs that
took a whole album side (LP's I'm talking).
Vinyl is still something special,
though I substituted many of my LP's for CD's.
Due to the length of some of these 10 songs I had to split it
in 2, so you need both parts for the whole package.
For me, today these are a few songs that DID the matter,
but still haven't lost their sweetness.
Enjoy.

1. Fleetwood Mac - Oh Well Part I+II (9:05)

73: Jungle. part 1

Hi.
Today some songs about the jungle(s) that surrounds us.
Some jungle(s) feel quite comfortable,
some feel like they're killing us,
but all these songs in some way reveal that "universal" jungle(s).
I'm sure some more jungle-posts will shine a much brighter light
on those "jungle" feelings all together.
It's a jungle out there, no doubt,
but we all have to get our own piece of peace in that,
so let's hear it for the first 10 (jungle) songs...

2. Blackalicious - Deep In The Jungle (6:46)

68: Covers Twice As Nice, part 6

Hi.
Today once more a 10 track, 5 (different) song selection.
Your ears open for the Meat Puppets doin' Nilsson!
How (awfully alienated) "off" can you get?
Hilarious, though.
Undisputed Truth always played LOTSA coversongs,
(check their albums!)
but being "invented" by "mr. Temptations" Norman Whitfield,
that may come as no surprise, I guess...
Enjoy these "twice as nice" again.

67: wah wah chronicles pt.6

Hi.
Part 6 of the wah-wah story.
I'm beginning to grow a little deformation in my ears,
no matter what music I put on lately,
my "inner radar" is always on the "hearout" for wah :-)
Even in the Santana track, which is very strange:
I've had and listened to that album like forever,
only to hear it this time with a fat wah-wah in it...
I swear I payed no attention to it the other 1000 times I heard it...
Enjoy.
